At the forefront of Synthpop are our visionary founders: Elad Ferber and Jan Jannink. Elad Ferber, CEO, brings almost 20 years of experience in leading and building innovative tech companies, especially in AI and healthcare. Before Synthpop, Elad co-founded Spry Health, a remote patient monitoring startup that was acquired by ZOLL Itamar in 2021. According to Elad, “A significant milestone in AI that presents new opportunities in healthcare is the ability to perform more complex tasks by composing multiple related queries.” While chaining AI models previously led to diminishing returns, it now facilitates the capture and replication of complex human processes, which are crucial for navigating healthcare’s complex processes.
Jan Jannink, Synthpop’s CTO, is a professor at Stanford University, where he teaches Scalable Systems and Applications with Large Language Models. Jan has been deep in the AI world for over 20 years and has seen it evolve tremendously. Just within the last year, there have been several noteworthy advancements.
Jan also stresses the importance of scalability, which is his specialty. By designing AI systems that can efficiently support many users, engineers can create frameworks that extend beyond individual cases to help many people simultaneously. Jan shares, “Our ability to use the new AI to build scalable systems quickly far exceeds what was possible previously, accelerating adoption even further.”

Under Jan Jannink’s leadership, Synthpop’s engineering team is dedicated to ethically applying AI to developing robust and secure healthcare solutions. His team employs innovative techniques to ensure HIPAA compliance and SOC2 certification.
The system architect, Christian Czezatke, has deep expertise in scalable software solutions. Christian shares, "I come from a background of writing systems-level software, where a bug can mean irrevocably losing a customer's vital data. At Synthpop I use this expertise to keep our software infrastructure stable, performant and maintainable while we move at a high velocity." He and Sunny Singh turn “what ifs” into reality, crafting the effective solutions that wow our customers on a daily basis.
Complementing the seasoned AI professionals are team members who bring cutting-edge expertise in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science for fresh perspectives. Jyoti Rani from UC Berkeley, is a researcher and engineer with a background in machine learning and quantum computing. Jyoti's passion for startups is evident in her leadership at Berkeley's AI incubator and her experience as one of the youngest technical interns at a pre-IPO quantum startup.
Jatin Gupta, also from Berkeley, excels in scalable software design and stands out as a thought leader in AI/ML research. He won first place at the Meta AI hackathon and was honored with the Point of Light award by the UK Prime Minister. His work on Synthpop’s AI caller solution exemplifies how the team’s collective expertise is transforming complex healthcare workflows into seamless, efficient processes, ultimately empowering healthcare providers to deliver superior patient care.
Kevin Looby adds further depth to this exceptional team with his expertise in data science, particularly in applying deep learning to physiological signals. His extensive experience in medical devices and imaging technologies highlights the team’s dedication to integrating AI into practical, real-world applications within the healthcare setting.
