Medtrade 2025 was a conference to remember. With a packed exhibit hall, high-energy networking events, and deep conversations about technology and industry trends, it was clear that the HME community is more engaged than ever. The Synthpop team was on the ground, meeting with industry leaders, showcasing our AI-powered solutions, and contributing to critical discussions about the future of healthcare technology.

Here are the top three takeaways from this year’s event:

1. Interest in Technology and AI is Skyrocketing

AI was everywhere at Medtrade 2025. More AI companies than ever were exhibiting, and conference sessions highlighted how artificial intelligence is transforming healthcare—especially in diagnostics, predictive analytics, and personalized medicine. Experts emphasized the importance of breaking down data silos to improve care coordination and reduce inefficiencies.

The demand for AI-powered automation was evident in the standing-room-only audience for Synthpop CEO Elad Ferber’s session, Leveraging AI in a Changing Payor Landscape. The overwhelming attendance—even on the first day of the conference, when crowds are usually lighter—underscored the industry’s hunger for AI-driven solutions.

The Technology Stage, introduced on the Expo Floor, was a game-changer, featuring thirteen 30-minute interactive presentations on cutting-edge healthcare tech. Chip Smith and Scott Holzberg of Synthpop took the stage to discuss Voice Agents: Transforming DME Communications, showcasing how our patient-facing and payor-facing AI voice agents are revolutionizing communication for suppliers and providers. These AI-powered solutions handle tens of thousands of calls, reducing manual workloads and allowing healthcare teams to focus on patient care.

With AI tech talks drawing large crowds and generating deep discussions, it’s clear that AI is no longer a futuristic concept—it’s a must-have for businesses looking to scale efficiently in the healthcare space.

2. Networking & Collaboration Were at an All-Time High

Medtrade happens once a year, so when the industry gathers, it counts. This year, foot traffic was stronger than in previous years, and the quality of leads was noticeably higher. Bad weather may have kept casual attendees away, but those who made the trip were highly engaged and ready to do business.

The Synthpop team experienced nonstop booth traffic, with attendees eager to discuss automation solutions. Maddy Bland noted that the conversations didn’t stop from the opening bell to the very last minute, making this one of the most productive Medtrade events for our team.

One welcome change this year was the expanded panel discussions, with 24 panels providing valuable insights on pressing industry topics. Synthpop’s Drew Copeland participated in a panel on implementing AI in healthcare operations, engaging in meaningful discussions about automation, efficiency, and real-world applications.

Beyond the conference floor, networking opportunities were abundant. Synthpop hosted an exclusive happy hour, bringing together current and future customers for meaningful conversations over drinks. Other major events, like NikoHealth’s industry party, gave attendees a chance to connect in a more relaxed setting. The party went late into the night as colleagues, partners and friends had a chance to let their hair down.

With decision-makers, industry veterans, and AI innovators all in one place, Medtrade 2025 proved that collaboration and relationship-building remain at the heart of the HME industry.

3. Current Events & Industry Shifts Are Top of Mind

Beyond AI and networking, Medtrade 2025 tackled major industry challenges, with sessions focusing on compliance, Medicare policy updates, and business growth strategies. The need for actionable insights on navigating the evolving payor landscape was a dominant theme throughout the event.

One particularly hot topic? Tariffs and domestic manufacturing. Multiple distributors stopped by the Synthpop booth inquiring about manufacturing, citing concerns over tariffs and a preference for U.S.-built solutions—reinforcing the growing importance of domestic supply chains.

Policy discussions also took center stage, with AAHomecare hosting "HME State Straight Talk", where leaders from 16 state associations representing 40 states met with AAHomecare’s payor relations team to discuss state-level advocacy efforts. These roundtable discussions provided a critical deep dive into regional challenges and opportunities, helping attendees strategize for the year ahead.

In addition, AAHomecare’s sessions on national policies, legislative priorities, and payor relations trends delivered key insights into regulatory changes and advocacy strategies. With Medicare policies evolving and reimbursement landscapes shifting, staying informed is more critical than ever for HME businesses.

Medtrade 2025 Proved That AI, Collaboration, and Industry Awareness Are Key to Success

From AI-powered automation to high-impact networking to deep dives into industry trends, Medtrade 2025 reinforced that the future of HME belongs to innovative, informed, and well-connected businesses.
